I am truly exited to see the new Harry Potter movie ‘The Deathly Hallows’ when it comes out, as parts of it were filmed in the little village of Lavenham, Suffolk (England) which is a mere 7 miles down the road from the village where I live.
location managers working on the seventh instalment of the film, were said to have made several visits to Lavenham and decided to use it as the basis for Godrics Hollow after deciding it had what they called an "ethereal" quality. None of the cast were actually present for the filming, but the characters of Harry Potter and Hermione Granger will be added through computer wizardry and will be seen by millions of fans as if really there.
This very beautiful and grand looking building in Lavenham was constructed in 1529, it is called The Guildhall of Corpus Christi and is a big part of Suffolk’s heritage. Schools have been making field trips to it since way before my time and I can tell you from the memories I have, it is a fascinating place although a little spooky inside lol . Film makers are planning to use the guild hall as the home of Harry Potters parents.
Lavenham is a stunning and some what oldie worldie part of our little corner in Suffolk and if you’ve ever been there you will understand the magical feel to the place that obviously captured the minds of the film makers when they first saw it. I will be very proud to see it up on the silver screen when the Deathly Hallows comes out in November.
